Prosthetic Services in Abilene

Artificial limbs, prosthetic, American board certified Texas licensed, members ABC, AOPA, AAOP

AALC
Offering professional prosthetic services to West Texas from its Abilene office.
Friendliness, high standards, timely service, and a TRUE understanding of our patient's needs are the hallmarks of Abilene Artificial Limb Company.  We offer the latest technology advancements in prosthetics including those which would allow an amputee to participate in competitive sporting events.

Personal quality care is provided by or supervised by our A.B.C. certified and Texas licensed prosthetics's.  Our staff receives extensive continuing education to stay on the 'cutting edge' of technological advances.

AALC believes it takes a 'team approach' to achieve optimum amputee rehabilitation results and satisfaction so we encourage interaction and consultation with other medical rehabilitation team members.

We specialize with amputee rehab

Advanced innovative prosthetic systems offered to amputees on referral from a licensed physician include endo and exoskeletal systems for all levels of amputation from partial foot to hemipelvectomy and partial hand to inter scapular-inter thoracic.  They also include ischial containment sockets such as the CAT CAM, Scandinavian type flexible sockets with rigid external frame, silicone and other gel type suction liners, conventional and hydraulic type knee systems, cushion pylons, axial rotation units, dynamic response foot/ankle systems such as the Flex Foot or the Genesis II, computerized control systems for the upper and lower limb, myoelectric upper limb systems, and lightweight fabrication techniques.

Our consultations are offered to both new and longtime amputees in the hospital, in rehab clinics, or wherever else the need arises.

Rebuilding Lives...

'Together We Can Work Miracles'

Emphasizing Quality Prosthetic Services to meet
virtually every amputee rehabilitation need.
In the same location since 1981.

Kent Phillips, prosthetics and owner, opened a prosthetics office in Abilene in 1981 when there was no local prosthetics service company in the city.  His dedication to 'rebuilding lives' has earned him the friendship and respect of both patients and other medical rehabilitation professionals.  Currently serving as Vice President of Texas Association of Orthotists and Prosthetics.

Experience to Abilene after having owned and managed prosthetics practices in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.  He was the recipient of the 2002 Distinguished Practitioner Award by the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetics.

Patient/Client Services

Prosthetic Evaluations
Consultations with the patient and other members of the medical rehabilitation team give careful consideration to desires for comfort, optimum function, and cosmetic appearance.

Custom Design/Fit
Our prostheses are designed and/or fitted to each individual.  This will require some or all of the following: extensive notes, measurements, drawings, cast impressions of the missing limb, and/or photos.

• Initial Fitting and Dynamic Alignment
Preliminary or test fittings are used to determine proper size, fit and comfort.  Most definitive prostheses require the use of a 'diagnostic socket'. Prosthetic alignment changes are made to determine proper walking balance and comfort.

• Prosthetic Delivery 'Check Out' and Instructions
The prostheses is given a final 'check out' at delivery to assure it has met our standards for high quality and that it meets with the patient's approval.  The patient is instructed in the use and care of the prosthesis.  Finally, suggestions are made regarding any further medical rehabilitation services (such as physical or occupational therapy) that our staff feels may benefit the patient.

• Follow-up Visits
One of the most important aspects of our service is scheduled follow-up visits in assuring continued patient satisfaction.  Of course, we encourage our patients to schedule or visit our office for 'emergency needs'.
